Lake Misurina

Lake Misurina is the biggest natural lake in Cadore and is situated 1754 meters above sea level, in the hamlet of Auronzo di Cadore (Belluno) called with the same name.
The perimeter of the lake is 2,6 km while the deepest point is 5 meters. The particular climatic conditions of the area that surrounds the lake create an ideal air for people who suffer from respiratory pathologies.
As a matter of fact, on the shore of the lake is situated the only Italian centre for the treatment of infantile asthma.
The lake is rounded by wonderful mountains, whose beauty is unique and incomparable. South you can see the towering Sorapiss and the group of the Marmarole, East we find the ski slopes of Col De Varda which belong to the Dolomiti Super Ski, and the mountain range Cadini di Misurina, crossed by the path Bonacossa. Northern of the Lake, turning into the street to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, there are the Lake Antorno and eastern the Popena with the Cristallo.
Misurina is the starting point for masses of journeys to everyone’s liking: from the simple path coasting the Lake to the secured climb on the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, including other “vie ferrate” in summer. In winter you could try, with ski at your feet ,downhill, Nordic skiing and skitouring. If you want to leave your ski home there are many other opportunities like quiet walks to admire the fantastic panorama, even on the surface of the iced lake (where take place also polo matches) or exciting trips with snowmobiles until Rifugio Auronzo from where you can come back down sledding at full speed.
